The bike has a tall stance to it. The design is narrow, tightly packed and the handlebar is placed high. RE has also given space for mounting hard and soft luggage onto the frame. There’s some clever engineering too like the fuel tank has been carved around the areas where you’ll need knee-room when you’ll be riding it while standing on the footpegs. The instrument cluster and the headlamps have been mounted on the frame too and hence, the handlebar feels light and the bike has a super-impressive turning radius.

Royal Enfield Himalayan has grabbed a lot of attention from its name. In fact by the name, we could imagine something tough and sturdy; this is what the Indian manufacturer wants the audience to depict.Though it is heard that the Enfield is slowly moving away from the brand, the core thing of Enfield is still maintained. This bike is meant especially for adventures and bears a retro look and feel. The important features for an adventurous long ride and a bit of off roading could all be expected from this bike. The mounting points for pannier boxes, a tall ground clearance, powerful headlamps, a huge fuel tank, multiple trip meters, an upright riding position etc. makes your long ride even more pleasurable. The new power plant is expected to displace close to 380cc. However, the engine is expected to retain low end torque that the Enfield is known for. A larger displacement engine of 600cc is also in talks for the model.

The Himalayan is powered by a 411cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 24.5bhp at 6500rpm and peak torque of 32Nm at 4000-4500rpm. This engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Talking about its braking department, the Himalayan gets a 300mm single Bybre disc with twin-piston calliper in front and a 220mm disc with single-piston calliper at the rear. Unfortunately, ABS isn’t offered with the bike even as an option, but it is likely to receive it in the future.
